Your holiday can be tailored to your choice, spend time golfing on the oldest golf course in Wales. This is situated at Dolgellau, and was founded in 1910, meals can be arranged in the 16th century clubhouse and all equipment can be provided.

Sailing in the Cardigan Bay
Dolgellau Golf Course

Or perhaps you would prefer sailing in the Cardigan Bay from Aberdyfi, or on Wales’s largest natural lake at Bala where again tuition is available. Or if this is not to your taste, spend a few hours pony trekking on the hills or along the estuary where guided treks are available daily, no experience is necessary and all safety equipment is supplied.

Spend your day trout fishing at Cregennan lakes, 15 minutes walk from Gefnir Cottage. The large lake has wild brown trout and the small lake (fly only) is stocked with rainbow trout. Permits are available from the house.

Here in Wales you can walk the paths our Celtic ancestors walked, follow the old drovers roads to market towns, visit the gold mines which produced the gold for the wedding rings of the Kings and Queens of England, and see the building where Owain Glyndwr held the first Welsh Parliament.

Barmouth Harbour
The Mawddach Estuary

Or perhaps you would rather just wander the hills where the legends of King Arthur grew in the Mabinogion. Legend has it that a rock on the shore of Llyn y Gadair, a lake on Cadair Idris, bears the imprint of King Arthur’s horse’s hoof.

Nearby at Aberdyfi is the River Dyfi, it was here, according to legend, that the baby Taliesin was plucked from the freezing waters by Gwynddo ap Garanhir, a prince of Cair Dyfi. Not far away is Castell y Bere, one of the only castles in Wales to be built by the Welsh for defence against the English.
